MarAd Issues Report On Waterways Port Model

The Maritime Administration has released a technical report which provides the documentation f o r an Inland Waterway Port Model. The quantitative mathematical model was developed for use in studying operating characteristics of inland waterway port facilities.

The study, "Inland Waterway Port Model: Documentation," was prepared under contract by the University of Tennessee. The model can be used to estimate port capacities and the cost and time associated with port operations at various levels of cargo throughput. It may also be used to determine the impacts of operational changes on port capacity and delay.

Copies' of the 127-page report are available from the National Technical Information Service, 5285 Port Royal Road, Springfield, Va. 22161. The order number is PB83-158535; the price is $14.50.
